Heating

A properly installed and maintained system will reduce your heating bills and increase the comfort of your home.

A Central Heating system distributes heat from a point source (e.g. boiler) to the rooms of your house for warmth and comfort using radiators or underfloor heating generally. It is a very important element of your home and if it is more than 15 years old is probably not very efficient by modern standards.

Century retrofit can help whether you are considering installing a new system or looking for more information on the system you currently have in place.

The scope and cost of replacing your current heating system with a new energy efficient system depends on factors such as size of home, number of floors and rooms, type of het emitters required (radiators / underfloor), level of control and automation etc.

A properly installed and maintained system will reduce your heating bills and increase the comfort of your home. Our professional team can help you find the right solution for your home.

Heat control
Proper Heat Control ensures;

  • Hot Water when you need it.
  • Rooms at the correct temperature when you need them.
  • Efficient operation of the heat source to deliver only what is required when it is required thereby improving energy efficiency.
  • Remote control of the system via smartphone if desired.

There are multiple systems available and our professional team will help you select the correct one for your application.

Cylinder Replacement
The hot water cylinder stores heated water for when you need it to shower, wash etc. Modern hot water cylinders are up to 25% more efficient at heat retention and depending on type have much faster recovery/reheating times meaning less energy being used.

Depending on the type of heating system utilised the one cylinder can also be heated from more than one source.

Cylinder upgrade is a quick and economical upgrade with instant benefits.

Heat pumps
Heat pumps harness energy from free renewable sources outside your building and this energy in turn is used to heat your water and warm your home whilst at the same ime reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Heat Pumps use a small amount of energy to extract heat from the atmosphere or the ground and converts it to a gas which is compressed to produce heat which is passed to a heat exchanger to provide the heat for distribution around your home.

The two main types are Air Source and Ground Source with Air to Water i.e. where heat from the air is used to provide heat to a hot water central heating system becoming very popular in recent times due to the high efficiencies being achieved and the minimal space required for the installation.

Our team of specialists will ensure the system you choose is the most suitable for your requirements.

Radiators and Underfloor Heating
Radiator technology has evolved considerably in recent years and modern radiators are slim, attractive and highly efficient, maximising heat output from the source hot water. We can assist in choosing the correct radiators for your central heating system.

Underfloor heating whereby coils of pipe are laid under the floor surface in a medium (usually screed / concrete) to provide a warm cosy atmosphere when warm water is pumped through them.

Underfloor heating is especially suitable for use with air to water heat recovery systems but also provides much greater efficiencies for boiler sources as the operating water temperature is generally lower than for traditional systems.

Underfloor installation is however a disruptive process and is often considered in conjunction with Deep Retrofit works or major refurbishments.Underfloor and radiators are often combined, e.g., underfloor on ground and radiators upstairs depending on the scale of the works being undertaken.

Here at Century Retrofit we can steer you through the process and our one stop shop approach will coordinate all aspects of the installation whichever option is chosen.
